Dr. Jennifer Rea, associate professor of classics at the University of Florida, spoke about “Why Rome’s Foundational Violence Remains Relevant Today” at Winter Park Plaza on Tuesday, August 27, 2013. She explored the violence in ancient Rome that forged a new empire and shaped our understanding of how identity, diversity, and violence were intimately tied together in antiquity.
