After 10 years, President Cornwell and his wife, Peg, will be leaving Rollins College at the end of June. The entire campus and Rollins community at large came together to celebrate and bid farewell to the Cornwells. The day featured multiple speeches, gifts, food, and bittersweet “see you laters,” not “goodbyes.”

The day began with remarks from Winter Park Mayor Sheila DeCiccio, who acknowledged the Cornwells’ significant contributions to both the college and the broader community.

Anne Murdaugh, President of the Faculty, and Brian Walkup, President of the Crummer Graduate School of Business, each dedicated their remarks to celebrating the impact and legacy of Grant and Peg Cornwell.

Student Government Association President Joseph Pool added a personal touch by presenting the Cornwells with a LEGO Vespa—symbolic of President Cornwell’s own Vespa.

Allan Keen, Board of Trustees member and chair of the presidential search committee, shared words of gratitude and presented the Cornwells with several commemorative gifts.

Katie Alonso and Chris Gonzalez followed by presenting medals in honor of the Cornwells’ unwavering commitment to the college.

Sam Stark contributed a moment of levity, gifting a trophy to celebrate the Cornwells’ leadership in the faculty basketball league. Last year, under President Cornwell’s coaching, the faculty triumphed over the students in their annual game.

In a fitting and heartwarming coincidence, the event aligned with Bring Your Kid to Work Day. Several children had the chance to meet and speak with the Cornwells, adding a playful and joyful energy to the afternoon.

The Music Department closed the celebration with a performance of the Rollins College Alma Mater.

In their final remarks, both Grant and Peg Cornwell expressed overwhelming gratitude for the Rollins community, reflecting on the deep bonds and memories formed over the past decade.
