Since the initial approval of plans for Rollins College’s faculty housing in August, there have been steps taken toward the end goal of establishing the housing units. Now, the available site is ready for construction.
“Faculty and staff housing is a mission-critical element for the college,” said Sam Stark, Vice President for Communications & External Relations. “It’s affordable, quality housing proximate to campus, and it will greatly help with affordability and quality of life.”
With 30 spaces currently available, the new housing units will provide living spaces for faculty and staff complete with several amenities, including two car garages and community picnic areas. The spaces will be within one mile from the campus, allowing for easy and convenient travel to and from work. Additionally, the lot is located near Mead Gardens, allowing for close activities and beautiful scenery.
Having these units available will not only be beneficial to faculty and staff members but to the school as well.
“The average home price in Winter Park is close to $1 million, so for new hires, this will be an important asset to offer them for a short period of time and help us recruit top talent,” said Stark. The proximity and amenities of the faculty housing aim to become beneficial for current and future faculty and staff.
